Privacy Policy

Dwelling In Worship (“we,” “our,” or “us”) is a Christian worship community. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect through dwellinginworship.org, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using this website you agree to the practices described here.

1. Information we collect

We collect only the information you voluntarily give us. Depending on how you use the site, that may include:

  • Prayer requests. When you submit a prayer request we collect the request text, the name you choose to display (or “Anonymous”), and — if you provide it — your email address so our prayer team can follow up with you.
  • Contact messages. When you write to us through the Contact page we collect your name, email address, and the content of your message so we can reply.
  • Newsletter signups. When you subscribe we collect your email address (and optionally your name) so we can send you devotionals, worship updates, and community announcements.
  • Account information. If you create an account, we collect your email address and an encrypted password for authentication.

We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13, and we do not collect payment information on this website.

2. How prayer requests are handled

Because prayer requests are often deeply personal, we treat them with special care:

  • Public requests appear on the Prayer Wall only after an administrator reviews and approves them, and only under the name you provided or the word “Anonymous.”
  • Private requests are never published. They are visible only to our authorised prayer team and administrators.
  • Email addresses attached to prayer requests are never displayed publicly and are used only so the prayer team can respond to you.
  • You may ask us to remove a prayer request at any time by emailing us — see the Contact section below.

3. How we use your information

  • To pray for you and, where appropriate, follow up with you personally.
  • To reply to messages you send through the Contact page.
  • To send newsletter emails — devotionals, worship updates, gatherings, and announcements — to subscribers.
  • To operate, secure, and improve the website.

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information, and we do not use it for advertising.

4. Newsletter and email communications

We only send newsletter emails to people who have subscribed. Every email we send includes a way to unsubscribe, and you can also ask to be removed at any time by writing to us. Once you unsubscribe, your address is removed from the mailing list.

5. How information is stored and protected

Submissions are stored in a secured database with row-level access controls. Contact messages, private prayer requests, and subscriber lists are readable only by authorised administrators. Passwords are stored only in encrypted (hashed) form. While no online service can guarantee absolute security, we take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information.

6. How long we keep it

We keep information only as long as it is needed to serve the community: prayer requests while they are being prayed over and displayed, contact messages while a conversation is active, and newsletter addresses while you remain subscribed. We delete information on request.

7. Third-party services and links

Our site links to external services such as BAND (our community app), Facebook, YouTube, and Instagram, and our Worship Library may embed videos hosted by these platforms. When you follow those links or play embedded media, those services may collect information under their own privacy policies, which we do not control.

8. Your choices and rights

  • Ask us what information we hold about you.
  • Ask us to correct or delete your information, including any prayer request.
  • Unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time.
  • Choose “Anonymous” or a private request when submitting prayer.

To exercise any of these, email us and we will respond as quickly as we can.

9. Changes to this policy

If we change this policy we will post the updated version on this page with a new “Last updated” date. Significant changes will also be announced to the community.
